What does granite consist of?

Granite encompasses a group of natural stones that originate from beneath the earths surface. Long ago molten liquid cooled and turned into a part granular and crystalline structure. As a result granite combines with other stones to form a very hard and dense material, further more making it virtually resistant to many different commonly used products in the kitchen. East Coast Granite recommends that as an added benefit towards surface protection a granite sealer is used on lighter colored granite every six months.
